How To Apply

Thank you for your interest in studying at the e-Campus of Islamic University of Kenya (IUK). IUK has intakes each year in January, May and September. To apply, click on the relevant link below and submit your application online.

Each programme is conducted under its own basic rules and procedures, but below are some of the common academic and examination regulations that each student should familiarize themselves with before applying for any of our programmes. Entry requirements are also in accordance with Commission for University Education’s revised standards for recognition and equation.

For Kenyan Applicants

Certificate Programmes

The minimum grade for admission into this year’s Certificate Programme at Islamic University of Kenya is K.C.S.E grade D+ (plus) or its equivalents.

Diploma Programmes

The minimum grade for admission into this year’s Diploma Programme at the Islamic University of Kenya is K.C.S.E grade C- (minus) or its equivalents.

Undergraduate Programmes

K.C.S.E mean grade C+ (plus) or its equivalent
A level with at least two principal passes and one subsidiary;
G.P.A of 2.5 and above from Pre-University

For International Applicants

The entry requirements for international applicants should be in accordance with Kenya National Qualifications Authority. Candidates from outside Kenya must fulfill the above criterion in their National University System or its equivalent. In addition, they must provide evidence of English language proficiency.

Rwandan Applicants

A level certificate with at least 2 principal passes
5 credits at o level

Ugandan Applicants

The Uganda Certificate of Education (O’ level) with 5 credits or an equivalent qualification
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education Examination (A’ Level) with at least two principal passes or an equivalent qualification.

Tanzanian Applicants

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least two principal passes or its equivalent
Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or its equivalent with passes in five credits
Diploma in the related area

For Credit Transfers

Credit transfers should be applied for latest two weeks after registration into the program of study i.e. in the first year; first semester. All Credit transfers should be paid for in the first year; first semester.

The University accepts credit transfers from Public Universities and Private Chartered Universities. Unless other agreements are made, the following are some of the terms of credit transfer:

Transfer of credit should be applied for in writing to the Admissions Office, detailing the courses for which credit transfer is sought during the first week of the semester after joining the University.
Transfer of credits will be within the same level of study, that is, only Degree level credits can be transferred to a degree level and in some cases Diploma level credits as determined by the University. Those holding Diplomas from colleges, should have passed with a grade C and above in their form four exams if they have to be considered for credit transfer.
Not all Diploma colleges are recognized by IUK.
Only those subjects that carry a grade of B and above are transferable from Diploma colleges and a grade of C and above from a recognized University.

Admission Information

All successful applicants will receive a provisional admission letter as soon as a decision is made on their application. Unsuccessful applicants will also receive a letter stating the reason for non-admission. Successful applicants will be enrolled for a mandatory 1 week Online Orientation to eLearning for students upon receipt of their tuition fees.

The applicant will immediately receive an e-mail acknowledging receipt of their application.

The Application Process

January, May & September Intake

We have three intakes in a calendar year, January, May and in September. Keep an eye on our website and social media for the openings.

Submit your Application

Application Deadlines. We encourage you to submit your application as soon as the intake is advertised and well before the deadline date.

Checking your Application

After your application is received, it takes several days to process materials and submit to the Admission Committee.

Application Review

The Admissions Committee reviews applications roughly in order of completion. Each application is considered in its entirety.

Interviewing Process

During the application review process, you may be invited to interview. These interviews will happen throughout the admissions cycle.

Last Decision

We will make a decision on your application as soon as possible. An applicant who is offered admission will be notified immediately.
